Week 10 Underperformers: Fluke or Truth
Author: Jair Oglivie
So….about last week.
Yeah I messed up. I am approaching graduation from my university and have tons of stuff going on for me that last week’s article completely slipped through the cracks. My apologies. BUT. We’re back! Let’s jump right in!
Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Line: 3 catches, 51 yards. 8.1 points (PPR)
Anyone who watched this game know it was probably the weirdest game of all time. It is slightly concerning that Evans was only as involved as he was on a day that the Bucs racked up 500 yards of offense. Especially after the performance posted in week 9 against Carolina. Tampa may struggle in a road matchup away against the Giants in the cold so temper your expectations for Evans in this one, but overall I do not think Evans will suddenly be unstartable down the stretch. The chemistry with Fitzmagic is there. Keep Evans rolling in all formats.
Looking ahead to the playoffs, Evans faces New Orleans, @ Baltimore, and @ Dallas (weeks 14, 15, 16). Baltimore and Dallas pose respectable defenses but nothing that should scare you into selling or benching Evans. In the playoffs is when you need your studs more than ever so hang tight on the former Texas A&M standout.
Jimmy Graham, TE, Green Bay Packers
Line: 1 catch, 14 yards. 2.4 points (PPR)
Let’s face it. Tight end has been a nightmare this season unless you are the lucky owner of Kelce, Ertz, or Kittle. Graham has been serviceable this season however. He’s posted 3 games this season with 3 or less points but every other week he has been serviceable for you. He hasn’t had the dominant breakout Jimmy Graham game as we might be used to but that’s okay. He comes in at TE9 this week according to ESPN Fantasy and that is more than good enough to stick with him. If you are starting Graham that means you don’t have one of the big three Tight ends and that pretty much forces you to keep Graham in your lineups. A revenge game matchup on Thursday Night Football is intriguing and should keep him in lineups. Don’t overreact with Graham, stay with him.
Week 14 - vs Atlanta
Week 15 - @ Chicago (ouch)
Week 16 - @ NY Jets
Sony Michel, RB, New England Patriots
Line - 11 carries, 31 yards. 3.1 points (PPR)
Sony was becoming that back that would break the stereotype of Patriots runningbacks in fantasy. You know, how you can’t trust them because it’s a different one each week (Branden Bolden I hope you’re reading this)? As soon as you began to trust him and as he came back from injury…that happens. To be fair, the entire Patriots team just didn’t show up in a road matchup at Tennessee. I think we all agree that this was a very flukey matchup and that the Patriots will be leading in the vast majority of their games, giving them plenty opportunity to feed Michel.
Michel is on a week 11 bye but after that he has a tasty Jets matchup that should excite fantasy owners. Roll this bulldog out weekly with confidence. Also, look at this spicy playoff schedule.
Week 14 - @ Miami
Week 15 - @ Pittsburgh
Week 16 - vs Buffalo
