Week 11 Underperformers: Fluke or Truth
Author: Jair Oglivie
So, about that Monday night game…
That was awesome.
But! Back to business, welcome back to the weekly fluke or truth article! You are already know what’s going on. As I’m sure you can guess, nobody here will be a Ram or Chief (and if you say Gurley get outta here).
Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Line: 12 carries, 14 yards, 1 touchdown. 3 catches, 38 yards. 14.2 points (PPR)
Mixon’s day was saved by a short touchdown run but this was a bad outing. Baltimore’s defense has been vaunted at times this season but this was impressive. With that said, don’t panic on Mixon here. He is still a high end RB2 with 1 potential, especially with the upcoming return of AJ Green. Green’s presence will open this offense back up, and allow for less defenders in the box against Mixon. Mixon is fine and is a weekly plug n play.
Week 14 - @ LA Chargers
Week 15 - vs Oakland
Week 16 - @ Cleveland
Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
Line: 156 yards passing, 3 interceptions. 1 carry, 6 yards. 0.6 points
This was shocking for many reasons. I did not think the Saints defense would completely confuse Wentz the way that it did. I thought that the Eagles would likely lose, thus creating opportunity for garbage time fantasy production but I was dead wrong. Wentz does not look like the MVP candidate he was last season but the talent is still there. An upcoming matchup with the Giants is favorable. The Eagles secondary is also extremely banged up so it looks like Wentz and the offense will have to score alot to win some of the remaining games. Wentz is your guy. I dont think this is a “fluke” because i think the Eagles were outclassed last week but I do think there are better days ahead.
Week 14 - @ Dallas
Week 15 - @ LA Rams
Week 16 - vs Houston
Dalvin Cook, RB, Minnesota Vikings
9 carries, 12 yards. 3 catches, -2 yards. 2 points (PPR)
Cook has been killing owners all season, trust me, I’m one of them. I think this is the reality you have to be faced with him this season. The Bears Defense controlled this game and Cook was a nonfactor, especially as the Vikings got behind and abandoned the run. Tough matchups loom for Cook and I don’t think he is someone who can be trusted. You may be forced to keep starting him but you won’t feel good about it. I’d look into other options if you have them.
Week 14 - @ Seattle
Week 15 - vs Miami
Week 16 - @ Detroit
